Project Goal
To enhance economic opportunities and alleviate poverty among women and youth, particularly those from the marginalized communities, by addressing gender-based inequalities and discriminatory practices in Blantyre
Objectives
- To enhance the economic empowerment of women and girls in Blantyre District, fostering financial independence and sustainable livelihoods
- To foster community engagement and collaboration by consulting with local traditional leaders and government agricultural extension workers for participant identification.
- To promote sustainable agricultural practices among women farmers through the utilization of pig dung as supplementary fertilizer
Key Activities & Achievements
- Conduct training sessions on livestock production and pig management, business management and leadership skills.
- Provide technical knowledge to 225 members from 15 groups on pig fattening, breeding, and health management
- Purchase of 60 piglets and distribution to 15 groups Formulation of the piggery women clubs
- Encourage and monitor/guide group members in constructing their own kraals and the use of pig dung as use of mature.
- Carry out project monitoring visits and documentation
